The co-hosts of Today recently sat down to speak with a guest. However, it was another figure who ended up helping the moments make headlines. Notably, while this other “guest” was unexpected, they weren’t unfamiliar to the cast and crew of the morning show.
Today‘s Craig Melvin & Dylan Dreyer Recently Spoke With A Guest About A New Weight Loss Drug
Both Melvin and Dreyer are known for their work with Today. Dreyer has been part of the morning show since 2012. Meanwhile, Melvin joined the main anchor desk in 2018. He previously joined NBC News in 2011.
During the Third Hour, Dreyer and Melvin interviewed a special guest. However, it was an unexpected guest who ended up making the moment.

On Wednesday, Dr. Natalie Azar appeared to talk about a new weight loss drug. As she spoke, a figure who usually doesn’t appear onscreen could be seen walking in the background. Dr. Azar was stunned, sharing, “I just totally lost my train of thought.”
Dreyer explained, “Well, Cecilia just walked behind you.” This identified the woman as Senior Producer Cecilia Fang, who has been part of the network since 2000.
A Few Of The Today Co-Hosts Made Sure To Make A Few Jokes On The Air To Keep The Moment Light, With Dr. Azar Soon Joining In
Dr. Azar tried to collect herself and get back to the conversation. However, Melvin interrupted, “Is that someone on the floor?” Laughing, the doctor asked, “What’s happening?”
Al Roker then explained, “Our senior producer Cecilia Fang walked in.” Cameras then cut to Fang as she tried to crouch down and make her exit. Keeping the moment light, he joked, “She’s also in the witness protection program. So she didn’t realize she was on camera.”

Melvin also joked, “This place,” while shaking his head in jest. Roker apologized to the doctor, who cordially laughed off what happened. She admitted that she thought she had done something in the moment, adding, “I thought something happened. I thought my blouse opened.”
Melvin teased, “No, she just forgot we do live TV every morning at the same time.” Turning to their guest, Roker added, “But please stand by because there might be a patient who died of embarrassment.”
According to her LinkedIn account, Fang first joined NBC back in 2000, initially serving as a news associate and later a researcher. Over the years, she has worn many hats at the network. From 2018 to 2021, she became a senior producer during Today’s Third Hour. Following this, she became a senior editorial producer.
