What happened: Metallica tapped into their Summer Sanitarium tourmates when James Hetfield sat out three shows in 2000 following a jet ski accident.
Late Kid Rock hypeman Joe C. was called to the stage to provide additional vocals during “Seek and Destroy” each of the three nights. Metallica bassist Jason Newsted handled lead vocals during the song.
Joe C. died later that year on Nov. 16 at the age of 26.
