Sacha Baron Cohen is back as Ali G in Ali G: Who Iz I?. The first trailer previews the upcoming comedy film, which also marks Cohen’s directorial debut. Amazon MGM Studios will release the film in theaters on October 23, 2026. The project has been filmed in secret, keeping much of its story under wraps.
The movie marks Ali G’s return to the big screen more than 20 years after Ali G Indahouse. Cohen introduced the character on The 11 O’Clock Show in 1998. It later became the star of Da Ali G Show before making his film debut in 2002. The character is known for his exaggerated personality, weird slang, and awkward interviews with unsuspecting people.
Cohen announced the film on his Instagram. He shared a video of himself as Ali G and talked about its release. In the caption, he wrote, “Dey haz finally made a documentary about me. And it ain’t like dat crap one about da penguins, dis one haz got at least twice as much animal sex. Ali G: Who Iz I? Cominatcha on 10.23 wotever dat means.”
What do we see in the Ali G: Who Iz I? trailer?
The trailer gives audiences an early look at Ali G’s return. The character says he’s spent the last 20 years chilling, but the world has since gone to crap. We see Ali G working on a documentary as Sacha Baron Cohen’s mix of improv comedy and awkward interviews returns in full force.
The character has already made a few public appearances ahead of the release. Cohen showed up at the 2026 Wimbledon men’s singles final as Ali G and interacted with spectators at Center Court. He also attempted to sell cannabis during the appearance.
The appearance shows that Cohen is bringing the character back into real-world settings. With him back in the role, Ali G: Who Iz I? brings one of his most famous creations back to the big screen this October.
