The next chapter of Snowfall now has an official name and release window. FX and Hulu have confirmed the long-awaited spin-off will arrive later this year. After months of development updates, fans finally know what the series is called and where the story will pick up following the dramatic ending of the original crime drama.
Snowfall spin-off TV show reveals title and release date window for FX and Hulu
The upcoming Snowfall follow-up has officially been titled The Drop: A Snowfall Saga. According to Deadline, the series is set to premiere later in 2026 on FX and Hulu, while international viewers will be able to watch it on Disney+.
The project has been in the works since 2023, shortly after Snowfall wrapped its six-season run. FX eventually ordered the series in November 2025, moving the spin-off from development into full production.
Rather than continuing Franklin Saint’s story directly, the new series shifts its focus to familiar fan favorites Wanda and Leon, played by Gail Bean and Isaiah John. Set in Los Angeles during the 1990s, the show follows the pair as they try to push West Coast rap music into the mainstream.
Their ambitions, however, unfold against a dangerous backdrop. Gang conflicts continue to escalate across the city while major record labels begin looking to profit from the growing influence of hip-hop culture.
The original Snowfall ended on a tragic note. Franklin Saint, portrayed by Damson Idris, lost his fortune, his family, and ultimately his future. Once one of Los Angeles’ most powerful drug figures, Franklin was left homeless and struggling with alcoholism by the series finale. That ending left the door open for other characters to carry the franchise forward.
The Drop brings in several new faces alongside returning cast members. Asante Blackk, Peyton Alex Smith, and Simmie “Buddy” Sims III are among the featured stars. The ensemble also includes Brandon Mychal Smith, Mykelti Williamson, Nicki Micheaux, Richard Portnow, Demetrius Grosse, Eric Balfour, and Quincy Chad.
