Harry Wild
“I’m picturing a fat little man who smells of formaldehyde,” Harriet “Harry” Wild (Jane Seymour) quips when the new pathologist in town comes knocking. Boy, is she in for a surprise. In a long-anticipated reunion of Seymour and her Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman co-star Joe Lando, retired lit prof Harry opens her fifth season of amateur sleuthing by welcoming the newly-installed State Pathologist Pierce Kennedy (nice name!), played by the still handsome though now much shorter-haired Lando. He’s discovered a pattern in several supposedly accidental deaths that are linked by mysterious tattoos of music notes. Turns out Pierce can play Debussy on the piano and quote poetry, making him quite the find for the relationship-averse Harry. Let’s see how that plays out as the season progresses.

History Channel
World War II with Tom Hanks
All’s not quiet on the Eastern Front in this installment of the sprawling historical docuseries. The episode recounts the German Army’s ill-advised expansion into Russia, where their fight to seize Soviet oil fields leads to the brutal battle of Stalingrad launched in the summer of 1942. The Russians’ ultimate victory by February 1943 is widely seen as a major turning point in the European war, bolstering the Allied forces’ determination to stop the Nazi regime.
