Well, almost 10 years since the last album, this was definitely not a good sign.

This sucks but as mentioned above, it’s not really that surprising.

It always saddens me how post-Morten era was not as much appreciated as the first 3 albums. The band reinvented themselves just brilliantly. I would miss one of the best vocal lines written in metal scene for my taste, especially in the last 3 albums. And of course, hats off for the influence on perfecting beauty and the beast style and providing the soundtrack for my goth days almost 20 years ago.

They’re the reason why see so many symphonic Gothic metal bands to this day. They definitely made an impact on this genre and the first 2 albums have not only become classics but became some of my favorite albums.
I’m also not surprised either because my one buddy saw Tristania back in 2009 after the Vibeke left, and he was not impressed with they’re performance. So it hasn’t really been the same after she left.
I ended up playing back to back of Widows Weeds and Beyond the Veil in honor of theur career. It’s a shame, yet another casualty in gothic metal music.

I love the shit out of their first two albums and I’ll always be grateful for those.

Sad news but I can’t say I’m all that surprised. Beyond The Veil and Widow’s Weeds are amongst the best in not only symphonic gothic metal but also metal as a whole.
They were never going to be the same after Morten Veland left the group, as he was the masterful songwriter behind the first two masterpieces, and then losing Vibeke Stene was the final blow unfortunately, don’t get me wrong they were still decent but were a long way off.
Hopefully not all is lost for these musicians, and they will join other projects/bands.

Tristania was one of the first bands that got me into metal and I still consider their first two albums as some of my all time favorites. Sad to see them disband but I suppose all things have to come to an end eventually. I’m forever grateful for all their music.

That about sums up my feelings and experience nicely.

“Darkest White” was such a good album and I was hoping for worthy follow up since then. One of my favourite bands ever. Such shame

Yeah, to be honest I was thinking if they broke up, because their last album was released long time ago, so this news isn’t surprising, however it’s really saddening, as Tristania was one of my favorite bands with it’s very unique and melodic songs. Although, I’m still grateful that they existed and gave us those amazing albums. They will be greatly missed on metal scene and they will be forever in our hearts ❤

Yes, those early albums are classics of the genre.
Sad to see them go, but their legacy is secure.
