It’s been less than a year since Boyfrienders dropped Midwest Alive in Nightmares, a fuzzy reimagining of the band’s identity, swapping out synths for crunchy guitars and pop-punk hooks, and they’re already back for more. The band’s newest single is called “First Person Singular,” and it’s a step further down the path they carved on that record, a charmingly messy powerpop ripper.
Bandleader Poppy Morawa shares that “I wrote this song after watching the film The Worst Person in the World, it’s about being able to find comfort in the idea that things aren’t going to be okay sometimes, and that’s okay.” It’s a great track–one of the band’s best–and you can hear it exclusively below before it hits streaming services tomorrow.
