Hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, bleulilbaby teams up with Atlantic Records rap star Symba for her debut solo single, “Pride.”
Over a mid-tempo, melancholy production, helmed by Grammy-nominated collective Triangle Park, bleulilbaby shows off the dynamics of her voice by singing about the stubbornness and inflexibility she brings to her latest relationship. Her past affects her unwillingness to be remorseful for anything she may or may not have caused her man.
She sings, “Had to hit a Backwood, yeah / Said some shit I won’t take back / You know that I get like that / Shit you say just make me so mad / I’m screaming that this is over / While wantin’ to have you here / My won’t let me get closer.”
Symba bridges the song’s premise altogether with his verse, as he raps from his perspective of the relationship. “You always bringing up old shit / Just to be out here actin’ brand new / I always told you if pride was a person / We all know that would be you,” he spits.
Speaking on new song, bleulilbaby stated, “[It’s] just me trying to figure out how to love and be loved by somebody, I go from heartbroken to heartbreaker.”
If you were wondering why bleulilbaby may look a bit familiar with her signature blue hair, it’s because you’ve seen her before as a member of the girl group Good Girl. Under that name, the foursome released a self-titled EP that featured the Latto-assisted “Thirsty.”
