After much anticipation, The Weeknd and Playboi Carti have released their new collaboration, “Timeless.”
The trunk-rattling bop was produced by Pharrell Williams, with additional contributions from Ojivolta, Mike Dean, and Twisco.
“Ever since I was jit, I been legit / You should let her go, she wanna be it / Double-O tatted on her body, yeah / It don’t matter what they say, I’m timeless,” The Weeknd sings on the catchy hook.
The alt-R&B superstar first teased “Timeless” during his one-night-only stadium show in São Paulo, Brazil, on Sept. 7. Playboi Carti joined The Weeknd on stage at Estádio MorumBI to perform the song for the 70,000 concertgoers.
“Timeless” is the second single from The Weeknd’s upcoming album, Hurry Up Tomorrow. The forthcoming project is the final installment of his album trilogy that started with 2020’s After Hours and continued with 2022’s Dawn FM.
According to press materials, Hurry Up Tomorrow “represents the creative apex of the project, serving as the third and final chapter crafted with existential and self-referential themes as seen with the latest visionary teasers that have set fans ablaze with anticipation for this concluding installment.”
Hurry Up Tomorrow will include the lead single “Dancing in the Flames,” which The Weeknd co-wrote and co-produced with Max Martin and Oscar Holter. The official music video, directed by Anton Tammi and shot by Erik Henrikkson, was filmed on an iPhone 16 Pro.
“Dancing in the Flames” debuted at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100, tallying The Weeknd’s 102nd entry on the popular singles chart. Elsewhere on Billboard, the synth-heavy track opened at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart, becoming his seventh chart-topper.
