Deportation is a hot topic in the United States right now. When he took office in January, President Trump immediately began fulfilling his promise to deport illegal immigrants who entered the country unlawfully. In recent months, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers have raided many cities in the country, with no indication that the raids will stop any time soon.
The View host Ana Navarro has been an outspoken critic of many of Trump’s policies, especially the mass deportations. In a recent episode of the daytime talk show, she shocked her co-hosts with a crude joke about deportation.
Ana Navarro Makes Unexpected Deportation Joke
The View hosts celebrated Thanksgiving a little early this year with a festive episode on Wednesday, November 26. Joy Behar brought up the topic of what not to talk about at the dinner table on Thanksgiving. Politics is a fiery topic, especially this year.

Alyssa Farah Griffin, who is pregnant with her first child, joked that she would rather talk about politics than her weight. She told her co-hosts about her family’s tradition of saying something they’re thankful for at the dinner table. She explained that it could be serious or light-hearted.
When prompted by Joy Behar, Alyssa started it off. “I’m thankful for all of you ladies and the ability to share our viewpoints on television.” She then asked Ana Navarro to share what she’s thankful for. No one was prepared for her answer.

“Damn, I’m thankful I haven’t been deported yet,” she said. Her answer caused the studio audience and The View hosts to break out in laughter. But it also left some viewers wondering about her legal status.
The View Fans Wonder If She’s A Legal Citizen
Ana Navarro has been open about her heritage. She’s proud to be a Nicaraguan-American. Her family came to the United States in 1980 after fleeing the communist regime in Nicaragua. The View host was eight years old at the time. She still lives in Miami, Florida, where her family lived after arriving in the country.
While the talk show host hasn’t really spoken much about her legal status at length, she became a naturalized citizen after arriving in the United States over 40 years ago. Her joke was likely a reference to speculation that President Trump wants to strip the citizenship of some naturalized citizens in order to deport them. Naturalized citizens are generally safe from deportation unless a federal judge finds otherwise.
Ana Navarro has come in the crosshairs of the White House several times, notably over her stance on immigration. Last year, she claimed that President Trump would, at some point, start deporting American-born citizens. However, that hasn’t happened, and hopefully won’t.
Viewers took to social media to react to Ana’s deportation joke. Most fans of The View found it funny. Tell us in the comments what you thought of it.
