Watch the first trailer for Tegan and Sara’s new memoir series High School
Tegan and Sara have revealed the first trailer for their brand-new TV series High School, arriving Oct. 14 via Amazon Freevee. The series is based on the twin sisters’ memoir of the same name, which documents their formative years in ‘90s Calgary, Alberta when they first began to discover music and songwriting, all while navigating teenage angst and first loves. High School boasts an impressive cast, featuring TikTok stars Railey and Seazynn Gilliland as Tegan and Sara, as well as Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother) and Kyle Bornheimer (Brooklyn Nine-Nine). Additionally, the trailer features a charming rendition of Smashing Pumpkins‘ 1993 hit “Today,” which is fitting given that the show takes place during the ’90s grunge movement. Tegan and Sara are gearing up for a busy October, as they release their 11th studio album Crybaby Oct. 21. —Alessandro DeCaro
Listen to 5 Seconds of Summer’s latest single “Older”
On their latest song, 5 Seconds of Summer tap Sierra Deaton, frontman Luke Hemmings‘ fiancée, for a heartfelt ballad — a wide sonic shift from their traditional pop-rock sound. The introspective-infused lyrics paint a picture of a love that the two promise will never fade with age. Vastly different from their other releases, Hemmings and Deaton sing a back-and-forth duet over a slow piano-driven arrangement highly reminiscent of a ’50s love song, with Deaton’s voice adding a sense of wistfulness. The track is the latest preview of their fifth album, 5SOS5, which sees the Aussie four-piece delving deeper into reflective lyricism and continuing to diversify their sound. —Anissa Sanchez
