Fans have been following Stephen Colbert as it has recently been announced that his series is coming to an end. Recently, he discussed another development expected for modern television. During the moment, he also issued a statement concerning another late-night host.
Stephen Colbert’s Own Late Show Will Come To An End Within The Next Four Months
Colbert is known for hosting a number of shows. This includes The Colbert Report and, more recently, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Recently, however, CBS has announced that they would be retiring the Late Show franchise. Colbert’s series, which he has been hosting since 2015, will be coming to an end around May 2026.

With Colbert’s show having four months left, he discussed an upcoming development in television during a recent show segment. Noting that there had been a recent announcement from FCC chair Brendan Carr, Colbert shared, “A new crackdown on late night TV that has enormous implications for me for four more months.”
As Colbert’s show is already coming to an end, this change likely won’t impact his series much going forward, causing him to jokingly blow a kiss. However, he took a moment to consider a fellow late show host.
Colbert continued, “Good luck, Jimmy! See ya! Mwah! See ya, suckers!” As previously reported, Jimmy Kimmel’s own namesake series was suspended back in September following comments made after the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

Colbert Is Also Set To Appear On Another Late Night Host’s Show
During his recent segment, Colbert also namedropped another late show host: Seth Meyers. He continued, “This is clearly an attempt to silence me, Jimmy and Seth, and I’ve got to say one thing to the FCC: hey, I’m flattered you think that appearing on my show has the power to affect politics in any way, OK?”
“I’ve been doing this job for 21 years, and let me tell you something, buddy. If our government had turned out the way I had chosen, you would not have the power to make this announcement.”
This is also somewhat timely, as Colbert is also set to make a trip to Seth Meyers’ Late Night for the first time in over a decade. This talk show films at NBC Studios in New York, just as Colbert’s show is normally taped at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City.
As noted by Cinemablend, the two comedians will come together on January 27, 2026. Colbert’s last appearance was on September 2, 2014, just around six months after Meyers started hosting the show.
