Queen of House Music Rachael Cain lovingly known as “Screamin’ Rachael” has just released her newest extravaganza “Rising” via TRAX Records. Aside from it being an explosive manifesto of song there is a courageous and inspirational message attached.
As President of the nearly 40 year old iconic TRAX label, Rachael has been battling the crimes of past owner, the late Larry Sherman in order to keep the label and more importantly to keep House Music in the US as opposed to the UK. Her song “Rising” represents her struggle and triumph with court conflicts as well as friendships that ended prematurely. Through the skirmishes and victories she has managed to keep her integrity as an artist and also keep the label as well as working with brand new artists and friends.
TRAX Records based in Chicago and founded in 1984 was founded by Larry Sherman and became the most important and influential home for House Music. Artists included on the label were Frankie Knuckles, Marshall Jefferson, Adonis, and Screamin’ Rachael who received 50 percent of the label’s catalog in her divorce from Sherman. And that’s the short story….. sometimes there is no map for the road we find ourselves on. It lies ahead, uncharted, unfurling in the mist. We all travel though one another’s countries, but it is no matter if we find strangers and join forces and learn to survive.
The song is not only a message to those who turned against her, who she once called friends, but an inspiration to all for continuing the dream. It’s especially a message to women throughout the world that despite adversity they can Rise…it’s a powerful song with compelling conviction and influential importance.
