Marques Houston has returned with his new EP, ME: Dark Water, via Phoenix Music Group.
The six-track project includes the previously released track “Coming Back,” as well as the Ray J-assisted “Stuck Like Glue.”
Speaking on the former song, Houston told Rated R&B, “The inspiration behind the song is that no matter what me and my wife are going through, I always come back to her.”
He added, “When I feel like the world is closing in on me from all the pressures of success or expectations, I find myself coming back to her as my safe zone.”
On “Bad Connection,” Houston sings about a relationship that is experiencing a rocky moment.
Despite the temporary static between him and his lover, he refuses to walk away from what they’ve built together. “I’m not letting go,” he croons.
The Ray J-assisted “Stuck Like Glue” hears the R&B gents singing about being hooked on love.
ME: Dark Water is the follow-up to Houston’s album, ME, which dropped in February.
Houston told Rated R&B that his new EP embraces a more “current” sound.
“I know a lot of people want that nostalgic R&B feel, which the EP still has, but I wanted to step out of my comfort zone,” Houston explained to Rated R&B. “It was really fun recording this project. ME: Dark Water is more of an edgier side.”
Houston confirmed in an Instagram post that he plans to go on tour in 2023.
“I’ll be hitting the road in 2023! All my fam and friends I’m so excited to be coming to your city,” he wrote. Tour dates are expected to be announced soon.
