Ravyn Lenae has achieved a new milestone on Billboard.
Her 2024 single “Love Me Not” debuts on the Hot 100 at No. 81 on the chart dated April 12. The Dahi-produced track marks Lenae’s first entry on the popular singles chart.
According to Billboard, “Love Me Not,” which has been going viral on TikTok, garnered 6.3 million U.S. streams from March 28-April 3. At the time of publication, it has over 81 million streams on Spotify alone.
“Love Me Not” was released May 3, 2024, as the lead single from Lenae’s sophomore album, Bird’s Eye. It was accompanied by its B-side “Love Is Blind.”
Released Aug. 9 via Atlantic Records, Bird’s Eye included “One Wish” featuring Childish Gambino and “Dream Girl” featuring Ty Dolla $ign.
“Bird’s Eye signifies returning to a place of self-trust and unbending intuition while acknowledging the paths and turns I’ve taken to get here,” Lenae explained. “Revisiting the most basic parts of my identity has allowed me to fully embrace them and be proud of where I’m going.”
Two months after releasing Bird’s Eye, Lenae dropped her remix of “Love Me Not” featuring Rex Orange County.
Regarding the remix, Lenae told Sniffers Magazine, “‘Love Me Not’ is one of my favourites off the project, and I knew while making it that I wanted to hear another voice on it. I love a kind of call-and-response duet in a song—like a finger-pointing duet feel, which I initially wanted for the track— and that’s what Rex’s verse added to it. When he sent the verse back to me, I literally had no notes. He was so scared about it, saying how he didn’t want to ruin the song if his verse didn’t feel right, but to me, it was perfect.”
Lenae supported Bird’s Eye on her headlining tour, which visited North America and Europe. Up next, the “Skin Tight” singer will perform at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival on April 11 and April 18.
Later this summer, she will perform at Lollapalooza in Chicago before joining Sabrina Carpenter on her Short n Sweet Tour in November. Lenae will perform at both Toronto shows and six shows in Los Angeles.
Circling back to Bird’s Eye, it was ranked No. 9 on Rated R&B’s 25 Best R&B Albums of 2024 list. “Sonically, Bird’s Eye flows smoothly like an albatross gliding on the wind, with gusts of reggae (“Candy”) and pop-rock (“Love Me Not”) to enhance the flight without detouring from its soulful essence,” wrote Rated R&B’s Keithan Samuels.
