The Waterboys Celebrate Landmark Festival Appearance With New Track, ‘Glastonbury Fayre’

Ahead of the band’s landmark twelfth performance at the iconic Glastonbury Festival, The Waterboys are feeling in a celebratory mood as they today drop a brand new track to mark the occasion, the inspired ‘Glastonbury Fayre’.

Co-written by band leader Mike Scott and multi-instrumentalist Brother Paul, the track is a love letter to Glastonbury, documenting the band’s first ever performance in 1984 and every visit since in a series of funny and revealing verses that namecheck Radiohead, Billy Bragg, Courtney Barnett and Glastonbury Tor.
 
Mike Scott comments:

“This is our tribute to the fabbest fest of all, when the nation comes together in all its true wild weirdness and shakes out the blues. A hymn of gratitude to the mighty Glastonbury Festival for all it’s given us over the last fifty years.”

The song drops ahead of a packed summer of Waterboys festival appearances, as well as a reissue of their tenth studio album ‘An Appointment With Mr Yeats’, and comes off the back of last month’s release of their stunning new album All Souls Hill – out now on Cooking Vinyl.
