Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos may be moving to an all-new studio to film Live, but, they also know that retirement may very well be in the near future. What did Ripa have to say about her retirement plans once she is ready to hang it up as a popular talk show host?
Kelly Ripa Has Had A Long And Lucrative Television Career
As anyone who has been following Kelly Ripa’s career for any length of time knows, she has had a very long and successful career on television. She started in 1990 on All My Children, before eventually landing a role on Live in the early 2000s.
Kelly Ripa had several co-hosts over the years, including the legendary Regis Philbin, and even new Wheel Of Fortune host, Ryan Seacrest. However, for the last few years, Kelly and Mark Consuelos have been hosting Live as a husband and wife duo, and fans love the chemistry they bring to the show as a real-life married couple.
Ripa Gets Real About Retirement Plans
As much as Kelly Ripa has become a staple for television viewers over the years, with her now in her 50s, one of the things that Ripa has to seriously think about is what the next chapters of her life are going to look like, particularly with the idea of retirement floating around and becoming more of a possibility as the years progress.
Speaking previously about her tenure with one show, Ripa said: “I think the risk-averse quality I have is probably the reason I stayed with the same job for so long. Other offers come along, but I like to stick with what I know. I am very steadfast in everything I do, and so when you have me, you have me for life.”
On the subject of retirement, however, she also added: “Having said that, I don’t intend to work at this job for the rest of my life. I do talk about retirement with great interest, but right now I’m very happy, especially working with Mark.”
Kelly Ripa And Mark Consuelos Are Moving To A New Studio
The good news is, with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos relocating to a new studio to film Live, it does not look like retirement is in the immediate future. It’s projected that everything will be set up properly with the new location by the April 14 episode of the show. In the meantime, they will be filming episodes adjacent to the building’s cafeteria.
However, even Mark Consuelos is aware that this ride has to end at some point. Speaking about his wife and the inevitability of her hanging it up one day, Mark said: “She’s been at that for 23 years. I don’t think it’s gonna be anytime soon. I know she’s having a good time, I’m having a really, really good time. But at some point, yeah.”
