Grammy-nominated singer Khalid has released a deluxe edition of his third album, Sincere.
The expanded set features six additional tracks, including collaborations with R&B-pop singers Normani and Chlöe and afro-pop artist Ayra Starr.
“Thank you so much to all of the beautiful and talented women that collaborated with me on this project,” Khalid shared in a social media post.
On the Normani-assisted “Personal,” co-written by Felisha King-Harvey of Cherish, the two call up their respective past flings for some one-on-one fun.
“So what’s up with you? / Can I pull up on you? / Keep you company / When I’m all up in there, don’t you run from me / What you want from me? / Got what you want from me,” Khalid sings.
Normani responds in verse two, singing, “I’ve been waiting patiеntly / We can keep it private bеtween you and me / The door is open, you don’t even need a key / You’ve been pushing on me so relentlessly.”
“Personal” marks Khalid and Normani’s second collaboration, following their 2018 hit “Love Lies,” which was featured on the Love, Simon soundtrack.
On “Make It Up To You,” which features Ayra Starr, Khalid works to right his wrongs in a relationship, driven by his own insecurity.
“I wanna be the man that you choose in your life / I look at all your exes, wonder if I’m your type / You tell me that you love me, hope that’s not a lie / ‘Cause I get insecure, gotta swallow my pride,” he sings.
Chlöe joins Khalid on “MIA,” where they confront their respective partners who have been acting distant, leading them to question their relationship’s future.
“You’ve been MIA, missing in action / Wondering what went wrong, I wonder what happened to you,” they sing in the chorus.
Khalid’s Sincere (Deluxe) arrives four months after the standard version, which was released Aug. 2 via Right Hand Music Group/RCA Records.
Sincere debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart. The album includes the Alicia Keys-sampled single “Please Don’t Fall In Love With Me,” “Ground,” “Adore U,” and “Heatstroke.”
“Sincere is a combination of my life experiences; it takes inspiration from conversations that I have had with my fans, supporters, and the people that love me,” Khalid explained.
“When I listen back to this project, I hear a sound that’s so unique and represents me at my best. This album is me at 26, continuing to evolve with the knowledge that I have garnered throughout the years.”
Sincere is the follow-up to Khalid’s 2019 sophomore album, Free Spirit. In 2021, he released an EP, Scenic Drive, which included appearances by Alicia Keys, Ari Lennox, Lucky Daye, 6LACK, Kiana Ledé, and more.
