Rising singer Josh Levi has released his second project, Disc Two. The Houston, Texas, native’s new offering is the follow-up to Disc One, released in 2020. It features eight songs, including three previously-shared tracks, such as “NASA“ and “Vices.”
The latter track was one of the focus tracks for Disc Two. Levi exclusively told Rated R&B more about the inspiration behind what he calls a “storytelling song.”
“It’s about temptation and walking away from relationships that are not good for you. I’ve had my fair share of toxic women, entanglements, or whatever you want to call it,” he explained. “It’s honest. It’s a vibe — if I do say so myself.”
Disc Two has its share of potential airwave standouts. Take “All Over Again,” for instance. The hard-hitting, pop-flavored cut outlines his obsessive behavior after calling it quits with a woman who’s moved on quicker than expected. His vocal agility here is marvelous.
Like the behavior he crooned and displayed a few tracks earlier, Levi heckles a bitter and possessive male protagonist on “She Keeps Comin.” He does a bit of lyrical boasting, affirming that he’s not holding this girl against her will and that her decision to stay is all her own.
Normani is also part of Disco Two, appearing on Levi’s “Don’t They Remix” The first version dominated as the third most-streamed song from Disc One. He expressed to Rated R&B that working with Normani on an official collaboration beyond online covers and performances is “a special little moment.”
Of Disc Two, Levi shared with Rated R&B, “It feels like growth. It feels like a coming-of-age moment for myself. It’s uncensored, more raw and honest. It’s Disc One on steroids.”
