Jimmy Kimmel Has Hosted His Namesake Talk Show Since 2003
Kimmel has worked on a number of shows throughout his career, from Comedy Central’s The Man Show to Crank Yankers.
However, to many, Kimmel is best known as the host and executive producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, since 2003, normally shooting out of Los Angeles, California. He currently has the longest tenure of any current-late-night host in the United States.
The past Thursday episode was Kimmel’s last new show of 2025. As previously reported, this year had been an eventful one for the host. He had seen his show got suspended by ABC’s parent company, Disney. He also endured the loss of his friend and the show’s bandleader, Cleto Escobedo.
During the recent episode, Kimmel opened his monologue with tears in his eyes. He shared, “This has been a strange year. It’s been a hard year. We’ve had some lows. We’ve had some highs. For me, maybe more than any year of my life.”
Speaking with his audience, Kimmel shared, “On behalf of all of us at the show, I just want to say that we appreciate your support, your enthusiasm, and not just for watching this year, you literally pulled us out of a hole, and we cannot thank you enough.”
“I know there are a lot harder jobs, but this is not an easy job to do, and sometimes it feels like we’re spinning our wheels. You see so many awful and destructive acts, all this damage we inflict on ourselves on purpose, and it can make you feel crazy trying to wrap your head around these things that are so clearly wrong.”

“You know, you grew up reading Superman, and you learn to value truth, justice and the American way, and then you start to realize, especially over the last year, you don’t know where that all went. You don’t know the what the American way even is anymore.”
A clip of the monologue was shared on the show’s Instagram page. Notably, Margo Price appeared in the comments to thank the show for including her as a musical guest. She wrote, “‘Twas a pleasure to be the musical guest on the episode where they tried to pull you off the air. Much love to you and yours and thank you for being a real one.”
Fans also shared words of appreciation to Kimmel with the recent share. In the monologue, Kimmel highlighted that he was watched by people around the world, and quite a few foreign fans even responded. Some comments included:
