Jade Novah realizes it’s time to move on from a stifling relationship in her new song, “Butterfly.”
Singing in a dreamy yet celebratory manner, Novah gently pats herself on the back for discovering strength in breaking free from an unappreciative lover. Everything that opened up in her life now that she’s grasped some things are better apart.
“You gotta admit, I’m glowing different / Know you probably miss it / Got something special now / This was the only way how,” Novah sings. “Had to get out of my shell / I had to change up for myself / You couldn’t handle me now.”
Novah accompanied “Butterfly” with a stunning lyric visual, in which she appears wearing a white lace outfit. It can be viewed below.
“Butterfly” is Novah’s first song release of the year. There are no additional details on if this new song is part of a future project.
Novah’s last project, Moon in Pisces, came out in August 2022, amid her headlining U.S. tour of the same name. The six-song EP included a feature from Kenyon Dixon, as well as the previously shared tracks “I Just Wanna Know” and “Trip.”
It’s a full musical journey where we navigate our ups and downs in love while healing and self-reflecting,” Novah said of Moon in Pisces in a press statement.
While on her Moon in Pisces Tour, Novah spoke to Rated R&B about the sound of her next album, the follow-up to 2020’s Stages.
“R&B through and through,” Novah noted. “I feel like the EP definitely did that and I want more of it. Storytelling. Authentic R&B. And there’s this feature that is supposed to happen.”
Before 2022 ended, Novah collaborated again with Dixon for a holiday-inspired song, “Here (For Christmas).”
