Hoda Kotb ‘Extinguishing Dark’ Away From Today
It was a big move when Hoda Kotb announced that she would be leaving The Today Show. She shared this at the end of 2024, and it made complete sense. The co-host became a mother later in life and welcomed her daughters in her fifties. She was fifty-two when she adopted Haley and fifty-four when she adopted Hope, so things changed for her. Hoda soon saw that she wanted to make more time for her little ladies, especially when Hope fell ill.
That made her reevaluate everything, and she shared that she would be leaving at the beginning of 2025. This also meant she would be leaving her post alongside Jenna Bush Hager on Today With Hoda & Jenna. Now, nearly a year after her official NBC exit, Hoda has shared a post reflecting on 2025 and her life after Today. She had a series of typed quotes by Donna Ashworth, and one was about believing you are worthy. However, another talked about extinguishing the dark. This made some question whether leaving the morning talk show brought Hoda to the light.
She had never said she was unhappy there. Moreover, she still hosts events with Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie. Yet, was it dimming her sparkle to be away from her girls and not feel completely present? Hoda Kotb got a nice home with her girls and shared that she loved walking them to school in the morning. She had her coffee, and they would just stroll. Being a mother was her favorite thing, although she is still active in her career when she wants to be.

At the end of the day, the Norman, Oklahoma-born Hoda has found her peace and seems to be in a much better place. She has her daughters, her co-workers who have become family, and so much joy. That is all she could have wanted at this point in her life.
