The film is an adaptation of Bethan Roberts’ 2012 novel. It tells the story of a love triangle between Tom, the woman he married and the man with whom he shared a secret relationship.
The trailer focuses exclusively on the characters’ younger selves and the moments they shared in their youth.
Amazon shared a brief synopsis of the film’s plot.
“My Policeman follows three young people – policeman Tom, teacher Marion (Emma Corrin), and museum curator Patrick (David Dawson) – as they embark on an emotional journey in 1950s Britain.”
The summary continues by saying, “flashing forward to the 1990s, Tom (Linus Roache), Marion (Gina McKee), and Patrick (Rupert Everett) are still reeling with longing and regret, but now they have one last chance to repair the damage of the past.”
My Policeman will release in U.S. and U.K. theaters Oct. 21 and will premiere globally on Amazon Prime Video Nov. 4.
