Nottingham singer Harpa first came to our attention last year with her debut track, ‘I’ve Been In Love Before‘. Now she returns with her sophomore release, ‘Hollow’. ‘Hollow’ is out today through DooBeDoo Music.
‘Hollow’ tells the story of the cost of being in love and throwing your whole self into it. You know the feeling, how it feels, and even though you know how much it will cost you, physically, mentally, and emotionally, it’s impossible to resist; you can’t help it. ‘Hollow’ asks, “if this is the cost of love, or at least loving in the only way I know how, then do I want to feel at all?” – asking for the peace of being unable to love, yet knowing that it’s not possible to be that way.
Opening with a gentle acoustic guitar, ‘Hollow’ soon reveals Harpa’s incredible vocals, and serves as a magnificent showcase for her talent. Filled with strong emotion, Harpa’s voice is perfectly matched to the instrumentals which build to include keyboards, and soaring electric guitar, accompanied by steadily thrumming percussion – both vocals and instrumentals achieve crescendo at the same time, before Harpa gives way to a guitar solo. She returns softly, assisted by gentle backing vocals, just before the end of the song.
Harpa’s rich tone displays an impressive vocal range, and her voice control is beyond compare, a fantastic demonstration of the care and attention she’s paid to honing her craft over the past few years – something she should be very much proud of.
‘Hollow’ is out today and is available to stream and download here. You can find out more about the wonderful Harpa and her music online on her official website, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
