It’s been more than fifteen years since re-formed thrash vets Sacrifice put out their first reunion album, The Ones I Condemn, but they’re finally back with its follow up, the aptly titled Volume Six. Featuring the band’s original lineup, Volume Six is a fast-paced, sharp slab of thrash that will please old-school thrashers and new fans alike.
Volume Six is loaded with the kind of fast-paced bangers one would expect—opener “Comatose,” “Antidote of Poison” or “We Will Not Survive” are all perfect examples—but Sacrifice throw in a few curveballs. “Lunar Eclipse” is the first instrumental song on the record and puts a heavy emphasis of the dual-guitar approach from Rob Urbinati and Joe Rico, while “Black Hashish” sees Sacrifice detour into psychedelia and even doom territory. The album even wraps with a cover of “Trapped in a World,” originally by Canadian hardcore outfit Direct Action, a large influence on Sacrifice in their early days.
“For months, we have been waiting for the day when everyone can finally hear our new Sacrifice album, Volume Six,” Urbinati says. “That day is here at last. We hope you enjoy this record of Canadian thrash metal by the same four band members we started with.”
Volume Six is officially out on Friday, February 21 on Cursed Blessings Records, but you can peep it now via Decibel.
