‘Bulletproof’ from Freekstar is an act of defiance that delivers with absolute conviction and a blast of irreverent pop punk to boot.
Comprising guitarist Tim Hutchinson and singer Sharon Wilson, Freekstar banish all self-doubt, fear, and social anxiety with their high octane pop punk sound, that implores you to sing along at the top of your lungs – whether you like it or not.
You will be dancing along, singing to keep up with their high energy – then suddenly: the atmosphere changes, slows down a notch…but the message remains the same: I am what I am – whether you like it or not.
The music video is simple. Shot in what looks to be a living room, with a sofa, a lamp, and a piano, along with a blue rug, and two windows, giving the viewer an eye on the world – a garden and house across the way. But that’s not what keeps our attention. Both members of Freekstar are dressed as bears, with Sharon Wilson adding a kilt to her outfit. About two seconds in though, you forget what they’re wearing, as they shred guitar, violin, and, amusingly, a tennis racquet.
As the music slows down, the pair remove their heads, and start whacking each other for all they’re worth, pillow-fight style, having all the fun in the world.
