Icelandic pagan black metal trio Fortíð has release the second track “Fimbulvetur” of the EP Dómur um dauðan hvern (“Judgement Of Everyone Dead”) as a lyric video. Dómur um dauðan hvern is slated for release on November 18, 2022. Preorder here.
The radio single “Fimbulvetur” (“The Great Winter”) is named after one of the eschatological events of Norse myth, which are leading to Ragnarök, i.e. the end of the gods and the world in fire.
Fortíð comment: “The first track of the EP, ‘Fimbulvetur’ tells about a time in the past when the eruption of a volcano blocked the sun for some years, killing crops and livestock, which left people starving and murdering each other for every little scrap that they had left to eat,” mastermind Einar Eldur Thorberg explains. “It’s about people, who worshipped the sun and had lost their faith, thinking that their god was either dead or had abandoned them.”
With their two-track EP Dómur um dauðan hvern (“Judgement Of Everyone Dead”), Fortíð sent out an impressive sign of life. The Icelandic pagan black metal outfit continues in the massive footprints that their current album World Serpent has left. Epic Icelandic melodies, sharp riffing that draws from black, death, thrash, and heavy metal as well as Einar Eldur Thorberg’s distinct vocals combine into fiery and spirited new songs.
