The Menendez brothers are back in the spotlight again. There are a few reasons for their return to the public eye. One is that their attorneys might have found evidence to help them potentially get out of prison. Additionally, two different television presentations have been released. The first was a documentary and the other was a Netflix biopic series called Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
However, Erik’s attorney has nothing good to say about the Netflix series. Here is what he is sharing.
Erik Menendez’s Attorney Calls Monsters A ‘Piece Of S**t’ Series
Leslie Abramson, 81, the longtime lawyer for Erik Menendez, is not happy about the Netflix series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. Abramson defended Erik in the original 1990s case for murdering his parents. While she has low opinions on the series, she actually said she has never watched it and doesn’t plan to.
“That piece of s–t I heard about? No. I don’t watch any of those,” Leslie said in a video (via Entertainment Tonight). “I will make no comments about my client. None whatsoever.”
While she refused to comment further on the Ryan Murphy-produced series, she did release a written statement in the documentary, The Menendez Brothers, which also premiered on Netflix.
“30 years is a long time,” she said in an email shown in The Menendez Brothers docuseries. “I’d like to leave the past in the past. No amount of media, nor teenage petitions will alter the fate of these clients. Only the court can do that and they have ruled.”
However, there seems to be hope for the brothers.
Can The Menendez Brothers Get Released From Prison?
“I don’t believe that spending their entire natural lives incarcerated was the right punishment for this complex case,” Kim Kardashian said of Lyle and Erik Menendez. “Had this crime been committed and trialed today, I believe the outcome would have been dramatically different.”
This is also important to note since new evidence has been released concerning the Menendez case. Prosecutors in Los Angeles are reviewing new evidence that indicates that Erik Menendez reportedly sent a letter to a cousin months before the murder, showing fear and claiming abuse from their father.
This also comes after a Menudo documentary where a member of the boy band said that Jose Menendez had sexually assaulted him when he was a child. The Menendez brothers also alleged sexual assaults on Erik and they claimed they were scared their parents would kill them to hide the truth.
