Months after releasing his latest EP, No Longer in the Suburbs, Dylan Sinclair returns with a deluxe edition via Five Stone Records.
Expanding the tracklist to 12 songs, the deluxe edition includes four new songs: “Open (Remix)” with Destin Conrad and Jvck James, “Unhappy,” “Never” featuring Joyce Wrice and “Proud Kid.”
“Never” is filled with Sinclair’s riveting harmonies paired with an acoustic guitar-driven production. Wrice makes an impactful addition to this song with her smooth vocals melding into Sinclair’s effortlessly.
“I just wanna shut the world off / Get lost, make up for the time we lost / Clothes off, make love ’til we both dose off,” they harmonize.
No Longer in the Suburbs was released May 11. It features the original version of “Open,” which has an accompanying video, as well as the other singles “Lifetime” and “Suppress.”
Speaking on the project, Sinclair shared, “No Longer in the Suburbs really represents the search for that stimulation, that faster life or those experiences that when you’re old, you get to look back on them and be like, yeah, I did that and with people that I love.”
In an interview with Rated R&B, Sinclair shared what he hoped fans would get after listening to No Longer in the Suburbs.
“I went through a big period of growth over the past two years of working on this project. I want people to kind of experience their own [personal growth] from listening to the music,” Sinclair told Rated R&B. “It’s very different than my last project. For people that have been following me from then can hopefully see the growth and be inspired by it.”
He added, “For new listeners, I want people to have a good time listening to my music, either a really good time with songs like ‘Open’ [and] ‘I’m in It’ or a comforting time because I definitely have to sing songs like ‘Lifetime’ and ‘How Dare I.’ It’s an outlet for me and it’s how I express myself.
No Longer in the Suburbs is the follow-up to his 2020 project, Proverb.
Aside from his own solo music, Sinclair appeared on Savannah Ré’s song “Last One.”
