In a powerful convergence of generations across alternative music, DE’WAYNE has teamed up with Good Charlotte for a stadium-ready anthem titled “TAKE THIS CROWN.” The track is centered around an emotive guitar line that accompanies a dynamic, vulnerable vocal performance from DE’WAYNE that’s sure to give you chills. As the tension builds, it gives way to an energetic chorus courtesy of Joel Madden. Lyrically the song touches on internal struggles, self-esteem and learning to be comfortable in your own skin. “TAKE THIS CROWN” is a timely and relatable song that will pick you up instantly. —Alessandro DeCaro
Enumclaw are bound to endure with “Park Lodge”
By this time next year, Enumclaw will be everywhere. Their songs possess a magnetic pop charm that revels in vulnerability and exuberance. “Park Lodge” is further proof, serving as their most stunning song yet. Toward the end, the track bursts into a rush of noise that reveals a band with a singular vision. Enumclaw call the song one of their favorites, and it could soon be yours too. —Neville Hardman
The 1975 are as charming as ever with “I’m In Love With You”
Ahead of their new album Being Funny In A Foreign Language, the 1975 have shared “I’m In Love With You.” The track comes with a captivating clown-filled music video that boasts impressive choreography and an adorable cameo from Phoebe Bridgers. Vocalist Matty Healy also revealed that the video serves as a spiritual sequel to the 2016 visual for “A Change Of Heart,” which shows him adorning similar clown makeup set to a backdrop of nostalgic black-and-white shots. “I’m In Love With You” sounds like an homage to ’90s alternative music (The Cure, The Lemonheads) with an upbeat vocal hook and acoustic guitar-driven sound. Lyrically, the song offers a simple but touching profession of love that feels celebratory in more ways than one. —Alessandro DeCaro
YUNGBLUD channels the ’80s with “Tissues”
Sampling the Cure’s 1985 song “Close To Me, ” YUNGBLUD‘s latest single “Tissues” is an energetic ’80s-tinged pop banger that sees the burgeoning rock star bursting with unbridled confidence. The dichotomy of the song’s self-deprecating lyrics paired with its fast-tempo chorus lets the English singer show off his best Springsteen impression — with a little more grit. Not only is it a mood booster, but it will have you contemplating a rewatch of Footloose. ––Ilana Kaplan
Quicksand return with the hypnotic new track “Giving The Past Away”
’90s post-hardcore pioneers Quicksand have dropped a new track titled “Giving The Past Away.” The song was originally recorded during the sessions for their 2021 record Distant Populations but was ultimately cut from the tracklist. Thankfully, fans can now bask in the song’s hypnotic vocals, crunchy guitar riffs and intricate time signatures. Sonically, the track feels like a throwback to the band’s classic style on their beloved 1993 album Slip with a modern makeover. The production is of course next level thanks to producer and engineer Will Yip (Turnstile, Turnover), who has an uncanny ability to capture the raw essence of a live band. —Alessandro DeCaro
Rhys Langston’s “I Will Stop At Nothing (I Am Magnetized And I Move!)” is deliriously good
Rhys Langston is committed to excellence. His latest single, “I Will Stop At Nothing (I Am Magnetized And I Move!),” is a lesson in lo-fi groove (courtesy of producer Orlando Kennedy), charisma and vibrant wordplay. But you’ll need several listens to appreciate his dizzyingly good delivery, one that’s as mesmeric as it is magnetic. We recommend starting now ahead of his new album, Grapefruit Radio, out Sept. 14. —Neville Hardman
Turnover’s disco haze
Turnover are back with another glimpse of Myself In The Way, and this time Bre Morell (Temple of Angels) lends her vocals to the hypotonic track. On “Ain’t Love Heavy,” the band’s sweeping vision is yet again shrouded in a thick haze as they continue to tinker with synths and make their sound swell. One listen and you’ll feel as if you’re being covered in hundreds of disco shards as you hit the dance floor. —Neville Hardman
Teens In Trouble offer a modern take on ’90s alternative with their debut EP
On their self-titled debut EP, Teens In Trouble are channeling some serious Weezer and Pixies vibes, and the end result couldn’t be more fun. Fronted by songwriter Lizzie Killian, the four-track release contains fuzzy guitars, emotionally raw vocal performances and lyrics that oscillate between serious and playful topics. Standout track “I’m Not Worried” features an epic music video that takes place in outer space, containing everything from cryogenic tanks, asteroids, spaceships and an adorable dog co-pilot. On their debut EP, Teens In Trouble will transport you back to the glory of the ’90s with a promising collection of songs. —Alessandro DeCaro
