Dave Luv flaunts his new style with his latest release, ‘Walk Through’, solidifying his position as a rising young star in the musical pantheon, as he delivers an electrifying blend of sultry R&B and smooth hip-hop supported by the velvety vocals of Sagealina.
Chicago-based Dave refuses to put himself into a box, as he infuses inventiveness into every track. Since he turned his back on finishing his political science degree in order to pursue a musical career, Dave Luv has consistently impressed listeners and critics alike, as he pulls his inspiration from across the musical sphere, defying categorisation with his prowess.
With a piano melody that sounds like a ballad, along with an easygoing beat, ‘Walk Through’ allows listeners to loose themselves as it soothes the mind with its tale of the sultry entanglements of young love. Dave draws from his personal experiences in his own long-term relationship, his lyricism and flow refreshingly simple. Dave puts it all on the table as he addresses his lover: “I’m not like the other guys that you talk to,” he asserts, “always number one, never put you in the top two.”
Joined by pop queen Sagealina, the pair playfully trade hooks and verses with intoxicating chemistry, but never once utter the words “I love you”, rather, confessing that they’ve been “feeling each other for a while now”. It’s an up to the minute modern take on an age-old story.
The music video for ‘Walk Through’ sees Dave once more collaborate with hip-hop visual maker Nicholas Jandora – the third time this year. We are taken to an atmospheric, empty theatre, where Dave is seated for the show as dazzling Sagealina drifts into the spotlight, her diamonds blinging in the white glow. She’s wearing a luxurious black ball gown, along with satin opera gloves, and Dave is not afraid to tell her just how alluring he finds her. The pair trade flirtatious melodies, their chemistry pulling the audience into their vibrant world of young love, delivered with mesmerising visuals. It’s yet another impressive feat for this young musician on the rise, and promises so much more to come.
