The former Nirvana drummer man, Mr. David Grohl, recently made an appearance and enlisted guests to help him perform onstage. Whether or not Mr. Grohl was seeking assistance, or merely allowing other celebrities to perform live Juke Box Heroes, is anyone’s guess. The former Nirvana drummer turned lead singer / guitarist for Foo Fighters is making sure he’s making the headlines. Let’s dig deeper and see what happened.
As per Ultimate Guitar, Dave Grohl concluded his annual “Hanukkah Sessions” collaboration with producer Greg Kurstin by covering Randy Newman’s West Coast tribute, “I Love LA”. Whether or not this is in reference to Los Angeles California is another subject altogether.
For the rendition, the Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer, took over vocal duties, enlisting an all-star ensemble of musicians for help that included Inara George, Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O, Beck, and Tenacious D. The latter features former Hollywood actor and Neverending Story III star, Jack Black. I am surprised Adam Sandler didn’t show up and start singing with a banjo.
This year’s “Hanukkah Sessions” took place for the first time in front of a live audience, at Largo at the Coronet Theater in Los Angeles, California, with the audience embracing the cover during the chorus, chanting “we love it”.
