According to Pollstar, Metallica has been ranked at No. 9 on their Top 10 Worldwide Top Touring Artists list for 2024, just barely edging out Madonna who ranked at No. 10.
James Hetfield and co. grossed $179.3 million across 24 shows, with an average ticket price of $119.64 and an average attendance of 62,512 per show.
Other artists on the list include Zach Bryan, who came in just above Metallica at No. 8, The Rolling Stones at No. 6, and Bruce Springsteen at No. 5.
Coming in second place was Coldplay, who grossed $421.7 million. And in first place, to no surprise, was Taylor Swift who dominated the competition, grossing $1.043 billion.
When looking purely at North American tour data, however, Metallica did not make the top 10. Taylor Swift was also dethroned from her spot, with The Rolling Stones instead claiming No. 1. In just eighteen shows, Mick Jagger and co. grossed $235 million. Swift’s North American tour, on the other hand, came in at No. 10 and made $138 million.
