What else do we know about Black Bag?
Along with Blanchett and Fassbender, Black Bag stars Marisa Abela, Tom Burke, Naomie Harris, Regé-Jean Page, and Pierce Brosnan.
The script was written by David Koepp, who is best known for co-writing 1993’s Jurassic Park alongside Michael Crichton. Koepp has also worked on the screenplays for 1996’s Mission: Impossible, 2002’s Spider-Man, 2005’s War of the Worlds, 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, 2012’s Premium Rush, 2017’s The Mummy, and 2025’s Jurassic World Rebirth, among other titles.
Koepp and Soderbergh previously worked with one another on 2022’s Kimi, which stars Zoë Kravitz and is now available to stream on Max.
Additionally, Koepp wrote the screenplay for Presence, a Soderbergh-directed psychological thriller that also arrives in 2025. That movie stars Lucy Liu, Julia Fox, Chris Sullivan, and Callina Liang. Having premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2024, Presence arrives in United States theaters on January 19, 2024, from Neon.
Casey Silver and Greg Jacobs both serve as producers on Black Bag. Fassbender previously starred in Soderbergh’s Haywire, which was released in 2011, while Blanchett played Lena Brandt in 2006’s The Good German, which was also directed by Soderbergh. Additionally, Blanchett starred in Gary Ross’ Ocean’s Eight, which was produced by Soderbergh and serves as a spin-off to his Ocean’s series with George Clooney and Brad Pitt.
