Last weekend’s Download Festival was another massive year, but it might have been the best yet. Across four sweat-soaked days, the U.K. festival was crammed with dozens of highlights that fans will carry with them. Korn were finally elevated to headliner status, electrifying the crowd with a stacked setlist after years of playing smaller stages. Spiritbox packed out the Apex Stage, largely throwing themselves into songs from Tsunami Sea. Spiritual Cramp’s Ramonesy punk mayhem had fans moshing hard. Cradle of Filth’s Dani Filth got engaged during their performance. Malevolence delivered a crushing set that proved the next wave of British heavy metal is making music that’s tougher to define but no less hard-hitting. It’s impossible to name them all, but luckily photographer Christopher Bethell was on site, documenting bands before they took the stage and immediately after their sets — and capturing plenty of great fan moments along the way, too.
