Eddie Vedder Makes Sad Alanis Morissette Announcement

Ohana Festival, the premier music festival established by Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder back in 2016 and which takes place primarily on the west coast of the United States has been a wild success since its inception. The original incarnation of the festival boasted Vedder and a lineup of Lana Del Rey, Elvis Costello, and other key performers which has helped Ohana flourish.

Recently, it was announced to capitalize on the success of Ohana, organizers sought to set up a spin-off entitled: “Ohana Encore” which would have been Vedder, who recently ‘struggled’ at a recent show, play along with the likes of The Black Keys and Alanis Morissette. Although there was a successful attemmpt year, it appears that this time around that will not be the case.

Over on the Pearl Jam community forum, one user named JoJo Rice posted a screenshot showing that one would-be festival goer received from customer service. This email would clearly state that the Encore Festival would indeed, be canceled. It read as the following.

Dear Ohana Encore Family
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we’re sorry to announce that Ohana Encore will no longer take place on October 8-9, 2022.

All purchasers will automatically be refunded back to the original method of payment. Please allow 7-10 business days for this refund to reflect on your account. For any questions Fro about your refund, please contact Front Gate Tickets via contact.frontgatetickets.com.

Over on the Pearl Jam Community page, one fan reacted to the news by stating: “Encore is poorly conceived. It worked last year because it created two more Pearl Jam shows and this fanbase travels. As a model though it doesn’t work. You can’t announce one festival, sell tickets, and then months later announce a second weekend. ACL doesn’t do that. Coachella doesn’t do that. If ticket sales were soft, that is not surprising.”
