She’s a country music star with powerhouse vocals, and Adrianna Freeman’s new single, ‘The Price’, reminds us that happily ever after doesn’t always work out for everyone.
Having a love of country music pretty much since she was born, Adrianna, from Tallahassee, Florida, started out on her musical journey at just 8 years old, when she would sing at her grandparents’ roadside farmers market. Adrianna’s relentless determination is evident in everything she does, and is raised higher by her incredible vocal prowess and gift for storytelling. She infuses southern spirit into all of her tracks, consistently refreshing with their sense of honesty, while she often takes inspiration from her own dark life experiences. Nonetheless, she strives to turn that darkness into light, and deliver feelings of positivity, reflection, and hope in her music.
Produced by Bill McDermott, who’s worked with country superstars like Tim McGraw, and Brad Paisley, among others, ‘The Price’ tells the story of couple Sally and Meeks. Nurse Sally has always supported her husband’s dreams of musical stardom, until she caught him in bed with another woman. Even so, she finds she’s torn between the sparks of love that still linger, and revenge, which pulls seductively at her. She’s standing at a crossroads between forgiveness and fury – “the place where broken hearts go to pray”. Sally’s decides, making a deal with darkness and takes everything from him. But Meeks in return vows to destroy her, landing him on death row. Revenge comes at a price. With haunting, soulful vocals, Adrianna belts it out, supported by Delta Blues instrumentals, that verge on the spiritual.
The music video for ‘The Price’ is deeply immersive, opening with a guitar set alight, and Adrianna sharing the story of the road to hell Sally and Meeks set out on. Upon discovering her husband’s infidelity, she comes face to face with the devil – presented as a man in a black suit, a white hat, and sparkly shoes. She sets her husband’s world ablaze, burning the bed, and everything else he owns. He makes his own deal with the devil, which sees him end up on death row. As he’s led away to the electric chair, he has one final vision of those sparkly shoes, reminding him that he has to pay The Price.
