Anyone who has spent any amount of time with Oklahoma’s nü noise all-stars Chat Pile knows that they love movies. The band has scored and starred in independent release Tenkiller, discussed the medium at length in interviews and vocalist Raygun Busch spends the interstitial moments of their sets recalling flicks filmed in or told about whatever city they’re currently performing. On top of that, the title of their last solo record Cool World is partly a reference to the 1992 live-action-meets-animation feature. Thankfully for all involved, the album is significantly better than its namesake.
Significantly worse than the movie, however, is the shovelware video game based on the film. Released by Ocean Software in North America in February 1993, Cool World for the Super Nintendo is an opaque mess that bears little resemblance to its source material. “I had to go back in the past year or so and emulate Cool World the video game,” recalls guitarist Luther Manhole during his interview with Kill Feed. “Yeah, it sucks. It’s not good… It’s confusing to interface with at all.” With praise like that, who would even want this in their collection?
Honestly, dear reader, we hope that you want this! Meeting up with the band at this year’s wildly successful Metal & Beer Fest in Denver, the co-nerds of Decibel’s Kill Feed brought along a working physical copy of Cool World for SNES to get signed/customized by all four members of Chat Pile before their highlight set this past weekend. One lucky winner will get this one-of-one item shipped to them, and yes, it actually works (not that anyone should really play this game).

Need something to sweeten the deal? We’ll include LP copies of both Cool World (indie store exclusive Highlighter Yellow vinyl) and In the Earth Again (Cobalt Blue Vinyl), their recent collaborative release with Hayden Pedigo, to make this a prize package worthy of the space on your shelf.

It’s free to play, so all you have to do is click here to enter for a chance to win. A heartfelt thanks to Chat Pile for enabling one of our best worst ideas to date. This December—and always—Kill Feed encourages you to play stupid games and win stupid prizes.
