Journey guitarist Neal Schon recently celebrated former frontman Steve Perry’s birthday, sparking rumors of a possible reunion.
“Happy Birthday Steve,” Schon wrote on Instagram along with a slideshow of photos of him with Perry set to Journey’s song “Lights.”
This isn’t the first time Schon has sparked rumors of a reunion with the band’s former lead vocalist. In November, Schone shared a photo of Perry to his Twitter/X account, captioning it with a wink emoji.
Fans in the comment section debated as to whether Schon was hinting about a possible reunion.
“Don’t you dare be teasing!!” one fan wrote, with another adding: “Omg! What??? Could something really be happening here? That would be phenomenal! (and maybe a future NS/SP collab of some kind as a bonus for all of us ‘Patient’ fans! How cool would that be?)”
A third fan begged Schon and Perry to work together again before it’s too late, writing: “Throw him a bone, Neal. Do something before you’re both dead. Anything. You guys created some of the best music of the 20th century.”
The guitarist previously said that Journey was doing fine without Perry when a user on Twitter/X said “Journey isn’t Journey without Steve Perry.”
“Yes I know that’s why we’re selling out stadiums,” Schon responded.
