Legendary R&B group Jagged Edge has returned with “Just Might Get It,” the first single from their new album All Original Parts, Vol. 1.
On the candid track, written and produced by members Brandon Casey and Brian Casey, they warn their respective lovers to be prepared for what they ask for, as it may come to fruition.
“Be careful what you wish for / Because you just might get it,” they harmonize in the chorus.
The lyrics were penned in a way that sees the message from alternate points of view, allowing more space for it to resonate with listeners.
“The beautiful thing about ‘Just Might Get It’ is how a single title can inspire entirely different perspectives,” says Brian. “Brandon’s writing captures this perfectly. His take is telling the girl, ‘You keep asking for my time, and I’m giving it to you—now, what are you going to do with it? Be careful what you ask for, you might just get it.’”
He adds, “Meanwhile, my perspective shifts to the aftermath: ‘You’ve said you want this to end, but I don’t, and now I’m telling you—be careful what you wish for, you might actually get it.’ It’s incredible how we’re using the same title but interpreting it in such distinct ways. That’s the magic of working with him—listening to the same thing and finding completely different meanings.”
As noted above, “Just Might Get It” is the lead single from Jagged Edge’s upcoming 11th album, All Original Parts, Vol. 1. The album will be available exclusively on EVEN, a direct-to-fan music platform, on Jan. 31, ahead of its official release on Feb. 14 via HardCase Music.
According to press materials, All Original Parts is “inspired by themes of love, resilience, and personal growth [that] reflects Jagged Edge’s evolution while staying true to the sound that has made them one of the most celebrated acts in R&B.”
All Original Parts follows Jagged Edge’s 2020 album, A Jagged Love Story. The 31-track album included production by their longtime collaborator Bryan-Michael Cox.
After A Jagged Love Story, the group returned in 2022 with their standalone single “Inseparable.” They also contributed to R&B duo dvsn’s single “What’s Up” from their album Working On My Karma. In 2024, Jagged Edge joined rising R&B singer Jack Freeman on his “U N D R E S S (Remix).”
On Wednesday, Feb. 5, the quartet will perform during the halftime show at the Atlanta Hawks’ home game against the San Antonio Spurs.
