LightlongLife’s new single, ‘Just Like Me’, is an upbeat feel-good song, with an early 2000s tinge, combined with modern production methods. Lush synths serve as the basis of the dreamy track, which will keep the listener bopping along from the very first note.
Alex Tsanga’s LightlongLife project is the culmination of extensive retreats, self-exploration, and personal challenges, and was initially conceived back in 2014, when Alex was on a retreat deep in the Amazonian rainforest. Since then he’s travelled extensively, and ensured his musical skills were honed to a knife’s edge, while combatting problems of his mental and physical health.
With steadfast determination, LightlongLife’s music reflects Alex’s transformation, challenges, and insights, drawing lessons from his experiences with the aim to also guide his listeners to a transformation in their own lives.
The core message of ‘Just Like Me’ is self-love and acceptance, an anthem that celebrates our individuality with all our quirks. LightLongLife encourages listeners to break free from the everything that’s holding us back, the shackles of unattainable perfection, and just love themselves for who they are, in all their glory.
The music video for ‘Just Like Me’, directed by Klim Rudakov, sees LightLongLife and a cast of characters obsess over their perceived flaws; at the start they’re all trying desperately to cover them, in fear of rejection, criticism, and unworthiness, a reflection of the artist’s struggle to find himself for many years.
Each character thinks themselves unworthy of being seen and they burn out from trying to fit society’s beauty standard. In a mirror of LightLongLife’s real-life turning point, by the end of the video each has transformed their fear into pride, and they celebrate it with a dance montage.
