R&B singer and songwriter Tiffany Evans is back with “Reset,” her first solo release in five years.
On the self-penned track, Evans sings about giving herself the grace and space to turn the page for a fresh start.
“I can tell you haven’t let it out / You’ve been overdue to scream and shout / You feel all alone when you’re in a full room / But whenever it’s us / I get to unravel you,” Evans sings in an airy falsetto that glides over a mellow production.
“Reset” arrives just in time for the start of a new year, where many of us may reflect on the previous year and set new intentions going forward. The Svnny WInter and Dreek Beatz-produced tune is by no means preachy. In fact, the song is the 32-year-old’s own testimony and a note to herself.
“‘Reset’ is for anyone who has ever thought it was too late to start over. This is my personal conviction and message to myself,” Evans tells Rated R&B. “When I wrote ‘Reset,’ I had to look in the mirror and face some of my insecurities head-on. It was a deep but necessary conversation.”
She continues, “There was a point in time when I second-guessed myself, thinking I was hard to love and not worth fighting for. Sometimes, we pour so much of our love and energy into others and not have it fully reciprocated. It can be painful and make you question if you’re the problem. Writing this song was a cathartic experience, and I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.”
As noted above, “Reset” is Evans’ first solo single since 2019’s “Merry Go Round.” The following year, Evans joined forces with R&B singer Jawan Harris to form the duo Jawan x Tiffany. The group, which has since disbanded, released four singles: “Finally,” “To Myself,” “Patience,” and “Issues.”
“Reset” is just a taste of what Evans has to offer going forward. In a social media post, she mentioned that the song is a prelude to her official single, which is slated to arrive in January.
A release date for Evans’ next single has not been announced at this time. However, fans can also expect a project to arrive in early 2025.
Evans’ long-awaited project will follow 2015’s All Me, which included the Fetty Wap-assisted “On Sight” and other standouts like “Talk A Good Game.”
Evans, who joined Tamar Braxton on her Love & War 10th Anniversary Tour, is set to headline Rose Bowl ATL on Saturday, Dec. 28, in Atlanta.
