The music of film score composer Randy Edelman victoriously conquered every dark corner, seized every blackened crevice, and lurked behind every demonized door of the new horror, self-exorcism themed movie “THE BEAST INSIDE” which will be unleashed by UNCORK’D Entertainment on December 3, 2024 on demand. The soundtrack will be unchained on December 3, 2024 on all digital platforms and available in CD format via Tribeca Records.
“The Beast Inside” directed and co-written by Jim Towns follows Anne, portrayed magnificently by co-writer and producer Sadie Katz on her quest to rid herself of the demonic entity inherently spawned from generations of family past and to protect her young son from the same fate. The film additionally stars veteran actress Laurene Landon as Anne’s possessed mother and Vernon Wells as the excommunicated priest, with a very dark secret.
The diabolic pounding of the drums, dissonant chords, creepy arpeggios, and unsettling sound bites musically established the demon-esque vibe to sinister perfection. With the demon induced ambience, the taunting and impeccably unnerving tones will cement this soundtrack as one of the horror genre’s best.
However, much of the album’s successful secret is attributed to Edelman’s beautiful and angelically composed melodies. These melodies are what truly gives a movie its soul. Edelman has a reputation of providing films and his popular music with some of the most unique, emotional and alluring compositions in modern day music and The Beast Inside soundtrack abundantly solidified that fact with tracks including: “Anne’s Lament” and “Mother & Son.”
Included in both the film and the soundtrack is Randy’s hit single “Pretty Girls.” It becomes the theme of the derelict and transient motel manager Tom played by John Pasquale in his film debut. It’s played on the motel radio both when we first see Tom and then again after his demise. It adds spice to the film and a temporary feeling of a momentary relief from the fright.
The name of Randy Edelman is synonymous with over 100 films and television themes including “My Cousin Vinny”, “Last of the Mohicans”, “The Mask”, “Ghostbusters ll”, “The Mummy 3”, “Dragonheart”, “Anaconda”, “Twins”, “Kindergarten Cop”, “XXX”, “While You Were Sleeping”, NASA’s “Dare Mighty Things” ESPN, MacGyver, the Olympics and a deluge of others.
Randy’s use of cinematic chord progressions, Gregorian chants, and his special harmonic vocabulary exposed a full range of human emotions within the characters including Anne’s constant fear of feeling like she was spiraling out of control. The chromatic use of his music entitled the darkness of the film to the pure colors of the movie’s identity…his music became one of the characters. His sophisticated arrangements blending traditional orchestration with modern sound design and beautifully composed melodies gives this film its own unique personality and can skyrocket this movie into the stars.
