King Diamond recently embarked on his first North American tour in five years. The heavy metal legend, along with his solo band—featuring founding guitarist Andy LaRocque, guitarist Mike Wead, bassist Pontus Egberg, and drummer Matt Thompson—was joined by Danish musician Myrkur, who provided additional backing vocals and keyboards throughout the tour. They brought this powerful lineup to the elegant Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, New York, on October 30th.
The band delivered an incredible 13-song setlist packed with King Diamond classics like “Arrival,” “A Mansion in Darkness,” “Welcome Home,” “The Invisible Guests,” “The Candle,” and the epic “Abigail.” The stage setup was impressive, showcasing the theatrical horror spectacle fans expect when experiencing King Diamond live in all his glory.
During the band’s rendition of the Halloween favorite “Halloween,” King introduced Myrkur’s family on stage: her five-year-old son, Otto, dressed for the occasion, and her husband, Keith Abrami, known for his work with Artificial Brain. Throughout the night, the band also thrilled fans with two brand-new tracks, “Spider Lilly” and “Electro Therapy,” building anticipation for the long-awaited King Diamond album, hoped for in 2025. Concertgoers also threw devil horns high in the air for the recently released track “Masquerade of Madness.”
New Jersey thrash masters Overkill built momentum at the venue, pummeling the crowd with fist-pumping classics like “Rotten to the Core,” “Hello from the Gutter,” and “Elimination.” They even threw in their cover of The Subhumans’ “F**k You” to rile up the crowd even more.
West Coast heavy metal trio Night Demon welcomed fans trickling in from outside with an explosion of speedy tracks like “Outsider,” “Screams in the Night,” “The Howling Man,” and “The Chalice,” setting the stage for the devilish onslaught metal fans were gearing up to receive.
The tour is set to continue through December. Check out all remaining tour dates here, and scroll down for photos of King Diamond and Overkill live in Brooklyn, captured by Rodrigo Fredes.
