Quiet week, only 90 songs, albums and videos submitted this week
Me Vas a Extrañar single by Carolina Ross. A lovely internal conversation that flows smoothly, but emotionally with her perfect voice. You can close your eyes and just sail away. From her Mis Covers Vol. 2 album. Stream on major platforms. Spanish.
Nadie Nos Va A Extrañar EP by Julieta Venegas. Very interesting and entertaining. Four versions of the same song, A Donde de Viento (Where is the Wind Going). The original and a karaoke version by Venegas , and two versions sung by Camilia Calonico. Stream on major platforms. Spanish.
Como El Rio, single by Katie James and Victoria Sur. Sounds like a classic Mexican love song from the first note. The two women blend their voices sweetly and follow a classic form, enhanced by their uncluttered guitar work. But, classic as it is, it stands out as a gentle earworm . Stream of Spotify and other major platforms. Spanish.
Canciones que te hice para el fin del mundo, álbum by RPLK. The English translation of the title is “Songs I made you for the end of the world”, and it fits nicely. Nine dreamy songs that swirl around, anchored by a steady, gentle beat, as she uses her voice, loops, and choruses to bring in a feel of a dream landscape the end of time. Lovely. Stream on all major platforms. Spanish
Herb Alpert: 50, album by Herb Alpert. Alpert is a genius and he is still going strong in this, his fiftieth album. Filled with classics like “Sh-boom” and “Baubles, Bangles, and Beads” plus originals and co-writes like “Dancing Down 50th Street” and “Where Do We Go From Here” this collection will satisfy any fan and introduce new ones to the Herb Alpert’s vibrant blend of jazz, pop, and Latin influences in catchy melodies, upbeat rhythms, and his distinctive trumpet. Easy listening, but so much fund Stream on major platforms.
Bedazzled, album by Binx. This follows her Bedazzled Pt. 1 in 2021, but the difference is evident. Her production is more lush, especially in “Supermarket” and “The Waiting Room”. It is still Binx’s trademark pop, but with more variation and complex arrangements. And many her vocals are smoother than Part 1, and intertwine with the synths and overlays seamlessly. A potpourri of songs, some that will mesmerize you and some that will fascinate you and some may go right past you. But Bedazzled Pt. 2 is a milestone in the career of this South African transplant pop talent. Stream on most major platforms and Spotify.
