Award-winning artist Angus Gill’s latest album, ‘Departure and Arrival’, has broken new ground for the country singer, topping both ARIA’s Country and Independent Albums charts. The Australian singer-songwriter’s fifth album has already been released in his home country to critical acclaim, but is yet to hit shelves in other countries, being withheld from the USA until October 6th, when his label will be ready to release it.
Before his times of winning Golden Guitars and topping charts across Australia came around, Gill was performing at local country clubs in his single digit years, getting familiar with the guitar at a young age. After gigs like performing with his band in school, Gill’s interest in country music peaked, and he ended up recording material for an album which would become his debut full-length release, ‘Nomad’, in 2017. Since then, he’s only been shooting further and further up the charts, with all his subsequent releases charting higher than the last. His most recent release, the critically acclaimed ‘Departure and Arrival’, debuted at #7 on ARIA Album Charts, and topped the aforementioned Independent and Country Albums charts.
It’s a chart-topper for a reason – ‘Departure and Arrival’ is one of the best country albums to come out of Australia, and certainly an exceptional piece to add to Gill’s already universally acclaimed discography. Blending elements of different genres alongside country and folk effortlessly, Gill’s nine track release features awesome singing and traditional instrumentation blended together to create thirty minutes of country heaven. If you’re outside the land of down under, you’ll have to wait until October 6th for the album to release; otherwise, if you’re reading from Australia, enjoy the exclusivity of Angus Gill’s brilliant new piece while you can.
