Three-time Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion has called on Jhené Aiko for “Consistency,” lifted from her freshly-released album Traumazine.
Megan chooses the right sample from The Isley Brothers’ timeless, quiet storm catalog for the Bongo ByTheWay-produced track. She spits serious bars about finding a loyal and dependable man to break her back when she needs her sexual fantasies fulfilled.
Aiko handles the sexy chorus and a verse of her own. “If you can’t give me the time (Ooh) / Then, baby, you can’t be mine / Got a million just like you waiting in line / Good D ain’t hard to find (Oh) / Miss me with the wishy-washy in and out my life,” sings Aiko.
From the R&B family, Megan Thee Stallion recruited not only Aiko for Traumazine but also Lucky Daye for the J. White-produced song “Star.”
Aiko, who is expecting her first child with rapper Big Sean, appeared on AUGUST 08’s brand new project Seasick. The album was released under her imprint ALLEL Sound, in partnership with Def Jam Recordings.
In late July, Aiko was shipped three new certifications from the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). The best was for “Sativa,” featuring Rae Sremmurd, which is now 5x multi-platinum. The alternate version of the song from her 2017 album Trip is noted as Aiko’s highest-certified song to date.
Aiko last released the album Chilombo in spring of 2020. It was expanded with nine new tracks in July 2020. The Grammy-nominated set, named one of the best R&B albums of 2020 by Rated R&B, was certified platinum in January 2021.
On Aug. 20, Aiko will perform at the inaugural LetsGetFr.ee Festival in Queens, New York. The two-day affair occurs at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. It features additional sets from Anderson .Paak and the Free Nationals, Missy Elliott, Jorja Smith, UMI, Kali Uchis and many more.
