10 of Julia Wolf’s favorite spooky songs

Julia Wolf loves Halloween. If you don’t believe us, listen to her killer new song “Dracula,” where she highlights her love for all things that go bump in the night. With Halloween imminent, it’s only appropriate that Wolf gave us some of her favorite spooky songs to soundtrack one of the best days of the year.

“Halloween” – Phoebe Bridgers

As the queen of all things skeletons and spooky we have to include Phoebe’s take on Halloween here. A true one-of-a-kind songwriter. I am constantly in awe of how she sees the world.

“Psycho Killer” – Talking Heads

It goes without saying this is a must-have on the spooky playlist, even if we only know the words to the chorus. It just knows how to set the mood for getting our spook on.

“Decode” – Paramore

It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t include a staple song off the Twilight soundtrack. What’s Halloween without our favorite vampire sparkling in the sunlight?

“Ice Dance” – Danny Elfman

I encourage everyone to listen to all of Elfman’s film scores, but when it comes to my favorite, I have to go with “Ice Dance” from Edward Scissorhands. I hope hearing this takes you right back to that scene. We can call it beautifully haunting, for sure.

“Bad Things” – Jace Everett

As the theme song to one of the best shows ever, I have to include “Bad Things,” as it immediately takes me back to watching True Blood with my sister, waiting to see which gorgeous supernatural man would steal Sookie’s heart in the end.

“Villain” – Julia Wolf

Thought it might be fun to throw me in the mix here! “Villain” is for all my shy people hungry for that alter ego to the surface and speak up! Definitely feels spooky knowing no one will see you coming.

“Stick” (feat. Kenny Mason and Sheck Wes) – JID and J. Cole 

Who doesn’t love a song to quite literally yell along to? The angst and overall eerie production make this both perfectly spooky and great to jump around your room to.

“Rhiannon” – Fleetwood Mac

I will forever associate Stevie Nicks with being a witch after her appearance on American Horror Story, and I wouldn’t have it any other way! Pretty iconic to be a superstar with superpowers, if you ask me.

“Dark Knight” – Jack Harlow

The production alone is so dark, you’ll feel your inner villain coming to life when you listen. We all know I’m a huge Jack fan, but I had to pick one of his super early tracks here because the mood it puts you in is undeniably spooky.

“Hedwig’s Theme” – John Williams

A playlist that includes Twilight but not Harry Potter simply wouldn’t be right. The power of film score is fully appreciated when you can visualize every scene in your head from a single track. Besides, there’s nothing spookier than Hogwarts by candlelight!
